Freedom

Inspired by the myth of Calypso and Odysseus, Freedom examines the fine line between holding on and being held captive.

Freedom begins with the Greek myth of Calypso and Odysseus, where the promise of immortality becomes another form of captivity. Through a divided blue landscape, suspended shapes, and strong contrasts, the painting explores the illusion that control always brings security. It also holds room for Calypso's loneliness and determination, even as her longing becomes a kind of prison. The work asks what might happen when we stop grasping for certainty and accept the realities we cannot change. Its deeper subject is liberation through courage: choosing acceptance over resistance, release over possession, and freedom over fear.
